The 'My Soulmate In 5 Words' Hashtag Is A Reminder That We All Define 'The One' Differently
For all the time suckage that goes on between Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and all the rest of it, sometimes a trend pops up and it’s pretty entertaining. For example, Facebook’s “Love Your Spouse Challenge.” I mean, I can't be the only one that chuckled when some people took it a little too seriously. And now, because love seems to be in the air, there's a trending hashtag on Twitter: #MySoulmateIn5Words.
The hashtag is giving Twitter users the opportunity to gloat, er, share with Twitter what their soulmate is in — wait for it — five words. According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of soulmate is: “a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner.” But considering what’s being posted on Twitter, for some, a soulmate doesn't exist — or maybe isn’t a human. In fact, yours truly, tweeted that my soulmate is, to no one’s surprise, pizza from this awesome place in my neighborhood. Basically, what a soulmate is runs the gamut, and while there are those who are snuggled up with a partner whom they consider their soulmate, there are some of us on Seamless about to order their soulmate.
