The Final Five Olympic Gymnasts At The 2016 VMAs Have The Time Of Their Lives Presenting Beyonce With An Award
Suffice it to say that the so-called “Final Five” Olympic gymnasts — Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez, and Madison Kocian — are having a pretty stellar summer. They clinched, and quite easily, I might add, the team gymnastics gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio just a few weeks ago, and they’re riding high on their newfound fame and glory. They’ve been doing all kinds of press and appearances (they’re even on a box of Special K cereal), and the latest and probably most fun endeavor for the Final Five was presenting the award for Best Female Video at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
Not a bad way to spend the summer, huh? When I say the Final Five clinched the gold medal, I mean that barring a major disaster, there was no way that anyone besides the USA was going to win the gold. Besides being amazing athletes, the Final Five — called that because in the next Olympics in Tokyo, only four, not five gymnasts will be allowed to compete for the team medal and because they are Márta Károlyi's final team of her career — are young and fun and would probably be watching the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards anyway. And now they’re there! (Except for Gabby Douglas, who, unfortunately, was dealing with some medical issues.)
They presented an award to Beyoncé, who won for "Hold Up," which surely made their night even better. Attending the VMAs and meeting Queen B? That's a pretty good night.
