Anthony Weiner's Latest Sexting Response

by Margaret Judson

The latest reports on former Congressman Anthony Weiner suggest that his sexting saga has hit a new low. According to The Daily Mail, for months, Weiner has been sexting with a minor — a 15-year-old girl — and engaging in alleged "rape fantasies." Weiner, according to the publication, was aware of his alleged sexting partner's age, and continued to ask her over text to perform acts for him, such as dressing in school uniforms.

Although Weiner isn't saying much and is refraining from sharing specifics, this is what he did say to The Daily Mail:

I have repeatedly demonstrated terrible judgement about the people I have communicated with online and the things I have sent.
I am filled with regret and heartbroken for those I have hurt.
While I have provided the Daily Mail with information showing that I have likely been the subject of a hoax, I have no one to blame but me for putting myself in this position
I am sorry.

The Daily Mail also reported that the disgraced congressman forwarded emails to the news organization that would presumably raise questions about the legitimacy of the accusations.

According to the report, the sexting relationship began when the girl reached out to Weiner on January 23, 2016. Weiner was not separated from Huma Abedin, longtime aide to Hillary Clinton, at the time. Although the two are still technically married, Abedin announced their separation last month, almost immediately after The New York Post broke a different Weiner sexting scandal. Those reported exchanges included a sexting photo in which the couple's four-year-old son, Jordan, is seen next to Weiner.

Weiner has been racked with such scandals since 2011. The first led to his resignation as a congressman, after he accidentally tweeted a picture of his bulging underwear that was intended to be a DM.
