Apple AirPods Are Out, But You'll Have To Wait

It's official — if you go to Apple's website, you will find that Apple AirPods have finally been released. Can't wait? If you want to order them yourself, it will take about six weeks for them to ship for free, according the official Apple site. So, if you were hoping to receive them by the holidays, you might have to wait to make it a New Year's gift instead.

Originally, the AirPods were supposed to be available in late October, but Apple ultimately pushed back the release date to Dec. 13. They've received a considerable amount of hype, especially because the new iPhone 7 does not have a headphone jack. Adding these wireless earbuds, then, creates the perfect pair. If you've been waiting for that pair with bated breath, however, you're going to have to wait just a little bit longer.

According to Apple's official press release, the AirPods are available to order online now and will start appearing in stores, including official Apples Stores, authorized resellers, and various other outlets, sometime during the week of Dec. 19. The press release describes the brand new product in detail:

AirPods introduce an effortless wireless listening experience packed with high-quality audio and long battery life. These magical wireless headphones use advanced technology to reinvent how we listen to music, make phone calls, enjoy TV shows and movies, play games and interact with Siri, providing a wireless audio experience not possible before.

Apple added, however, that they're starting the shipments in limited quantities, so there's a chance that all the hype surrounding them could cause them to sell out quickly.

Early reviews of the AirPods have come back positive, despite the questions that many people had about them when they were first announced. According to the reviewers, they hold a charge adequately and stay in your ears well if you're satisfied with the shape of the previous model of Apple headphones. And if you're all decked out in Apple products already, they're reportedly a great addition to an iPhone-Apple Watch pair. The AirPods are listed at $159. If you're adding a pair to your phone, then your wait is officially over — or, at least, it will be in about six weeks.
