'Amazing Spider-Man 2's Got A Post-Credits Sequence After All, But Don't Hold Your Breath

Turns out there's more to the Amazing Spider-Man 2 saga than was first reported. Or maybe saga's the wrong word — it's more like a "never-ending trading of commercial favors." Because it turns out there is an Amazing Spider-Man 2 post-credit sequence — you've just gotta have a very specific app to see it.

It was previously thought that the only post-credits sequence the Amazing Spider-Man sequel would be a scene not from The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, but from X-Men: Days Of Future Past . This was due to a contract dispute/wacky inter-studio arrangement based off Marc Webb (whose name is still on-point for his job) abandoning one studio to make Amazing Spider-Man for another.

And yes, the X-Men: Days Of Future Past clip is still featured post-credits in The Amazing Spider-Man. But there's also some bonus footage that is only available through the wonders of product placement. As Sony itself said:

After seeing THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 – opening on May 2nd - be sure to Shazam the end credit sequence to unlock a look into the sinister future. Download @Shazam on iTunes or GooglePlay. #SpiderMan

Sometimes I feel like we all live in Josie and the Pussycats, giant Target bullseyes in every hotel bathroom and every Katy Perry song embedded with messages urging you to buy crop tops or subscribe to Amazon Prime. But there you have it: If you have Shazam you get more Spider-Man.
