Demi Lovato Wants An Oscar

by Kaitlin Reilly

Remember when Demi Lovato was better known as an actress than as a singer? The 21-year-old rose to fame with starring roles in Disney film Camp Rock and sitcom Sonny With A Chance, but it's been a while since we've seen Demi take on a major acting gig. According to her latest interview with Cosmopolitan for Latinas, Demi may throw herself back into acting sometime in the near future, and this time, she has a very specific goal in mind. According to her interview the magazine, Demi dreams of someday winning an Oscar.

It's a big goal, but not a surprising one — after an intense couple of years of getting sober and healthy, Demi has worked very hard to make sure that her career is exactly where she wants it to be. She's already put herself back on top of the music game with hits like "Heart Attack" and "Neon Lights" and even scored a seat as a judge on X Factor. Though she hasn't made acting her number one priority, she went back to her roots to guest star on Glee as Santana's new girlfriend, Dani. (Where is Dani, btw?)

So who is to say that Demi can't nab herself a nice gold statue sometime in the future? With the right part and preparation under her belt, I wouldn't be all that surprised to see her make a splash in the acting world. Sure, I can't see it happening right away, but Demi definitely has the determination to make her career anything she wants it to be.

Demi is hardly the first celebrity to admit that scoring an Oscar is on their to-do list. Which celebrities have admitted that they want one? Check out the 5 actresses who are lusting after an Academy Award. (Whether or not they'll get one is a whole other story.)

No one ever accused Beyonce of being a slacker. Queen Bey told the Independent that she wants to be the first black woman to win three major awards: an Oscar, a Tony, and a Grammy. While she sure wasn't getting any Oscar buzz for films like Austin Powers: Gold Member and Steve Martin's remake of The Pink Panther, she had hoped that Dreamgirls would be the movie that would help her pick up the gold statue. It did help someone score their first Academy Award — unfortunately for Beyonce, that person was her co-star, Jennifer Hudson.

The Spring Breakers star has a High School Musical past, but that isn't stopping her from wanting the coveted Best Actress award. She told Marie Claire that her future "checklist" includes "a vintage Mustang, kids, and an Oscar." Girl, you can totally afford that Mustang. What are you waiting for?!

Taylor admitted that she would love to go to the Oscars someday, which she said is the reason why she's very excited to be involved in films. She's written songs for movies like The Hunger Games, so while she may not score an Oscar for her few-and-far-between acting roles (like her upcoming one in The Giver) there's a chance that, someday, she'll be nominated for Best Original Song.

Vanessa Hudgens' Spring Breakers co-star and a current "little liar" wants a career like that of Michelle Williams' and Natalie Portman's. She told Seventeen, "My goal is to win an Oscar, and I'm going to take the steps I need to get there." Win all the Oscars you want, Benzo — just please, make sure that Pretty Little Liars sticks around long enough so that we finally found out who A is.

Lately this actress has been better known for her personal troubles than her acting skills, but like the other actresses on this list, she claims to have her eyes on the ultimate prize. In a 2011 interview with Jay Leno on the Tonight Show, she told the host that she wants to win an Oscar by the time she is 30.
