What Do We Think About Shailene's Blonder 'Do?

by Mary Avant

With celebrities changing up their signature looks left and right — a new hair color here, a new stylist there — it can be downright exhausting and almost impossible to keep up with the stars’ every move as they experiment with a long list of hair, makeup, and fashion trends. I mean, in the last few weeks alone, Kristen Stewart has gone orange, Kelly Osbourne has shaved her head, Kaley Cuoco has made the big chop, and everyone and their mother has experimented with lavender strands (and that’s just in the hair department).

On Monday's 2014 Met Gala red carpet, we saw yet another brand new ’do from one of Hollywood’s favorite (and quirkiest) starlets, Shailene Woodley. Dying her brown locks blonde, the Divergent star traded out her sleek pixie cut for a tousled style that made the hippie-hearted actress look almost unrecognizable at first glance.

Her highlighted strands — which nearly blend in with her creamy, flawless skin and (it has to be said) seem to age her just a smidge — uncannily complemented the hues in her tree-inspired Rodarte dress, which featured a flattering off-the-shoulder cut; sheer sleeves and flowing skirt; a metallic silver bodice and bronzed sequin underlay; and delicate leaf and floral embroidery.

This isn’t the first time over the last several months that Woodley has dramatically switched up her hairstyle. Just last year, the actress was forced to chop off her long, auburn locks in favor of a dramatically shorter look for her role in the upcoming book-turned-film The Fault in our Stars . (And if you haven’t seen the footage of Woodley’s tear-filled big cut, watch it ASAP because it is absolutely adorable.) As jarring as it was to see the typically long-locked beauty debut her pretty pixie, she really learned to rock the look on the red carpet during her recent Divergent premiere press tour.

But now that she’s gone both shorter and lighter, I can’t quite decide if Woodley's aging look is one worth loving. Not that the free-spirited actress needs my approval. This is a star who shamelessly sunbathes her lady parts, after all.
