Meet Your New Style Crush

Move over, Sofia. There's another Coppola on the scene who might be stealing the family title of style icon. She may only be 27-years-young, but Gia Coppola is wise beyond her years, not just when it comes to filmmaking, but also fashion. But that's no surprise, given her bloodline, right? The Coppolas are famous for adding a touch of elegance to everything, from grandiose films to sleek bottles (or cute cans) of wine. Still, the budding director has managed to set herself apart from her family name, developing a personal style that has made her one of Hollywood's chicest "It" girls.

Just like the movies, fashion runs deep in Coppola's veins. After studying photography at Bard College, she began making short films for big fashion brands, like Opening Ceremony and Diane Von Furstenburg. She also just so happened to grow up with friends like Zac Posen, who she told Vogue was “my ‘adult supervisor’ when he stayed with a family friend on trips to LA." It also doesn't hurt that her aunt, whom she calls one of her role models, is the one and only Sofia Coppola. So, being a style icon was just in the cards for her, no? Here are six reasons why Gia Coppola is my new style crush and why she should be yours, too.

She Picks Fashion Like She Picks Art

In an interview with Vogue, Coppola admitted that it isn't just comfort or fit or style that factor into what she chooses to wear, saying she often picks pieces based on whether it “feels like art and has a backstory."

She May Be From LA, But Her Style is No Stereotype

Unless she's on the red carpet or doing a press junket, you probably won't see Coppola wearing 4-inch stilettos. In an interview with Harpers Bazaar, Coppola said, "Most girls love the highest shoes. Especially in a town like this. And I admire those girls, but I can't do it. If I"m not comfortable, I just look awkward."

She Styles Her Mom's Cat Like This

This particular outfit's caption read, "Aristocat," which was probably inspired by her Aunt's film Marie Antoinette. Obviously.

She Admits to Shopping Online (Like the Rest of Us)

Gia Coppola may have access to all the high-end fashion stores in the world, but honestly, she'd rather just scroll through e-commerce sites like the rest of us. "I’m pretty lazy. I don’t like shopping, so I’ll look online," she told NY Mag.

Her Go-to Outfit Involves Sneakers and Jeans

Coppola told Glamour that if she's in a hurry, she'll jump into her usual uniform of Superga sneakers, APC jeans and a vintage sweatshirt. So can we be best friends now or...?
