'Hunger Games' Spoof Is the New 'Scary Movie'

by Rachel Simon

All you Hunger Games fanatics now have one more movie to add to your must-see list — The Starving Games , a full-length spoof of the blockbuster trilogy, set to hit theaters this November. Written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the guys behind Scary Movie and Epic Movie, The Starving Games will debut just two weeks before Catching Fire, the second film in the series, is released.

Similar to the movie it satirizes, The Starving Games will focus on Kantmiss (get it?), a girl forced to participate in a violent annual competition that pits teens against each other for glory. It will star Maiara Walsh (Switched at Birth), Cody Christian (Pretty Little Liars), Lauren Bowles (True Blood), Brant Daugherty (Pretty Little Liars), and Diedrich Bader (Napoleon Dynamite).

Don't think The Starving Games is only taking aim at one pop culture product, though. It will also parody The Avengers and Taylor Swift, among other beloved entities. Jennifer Lawrence, Joss Whedon and Taylor Swift?! Friedberg and Seltzer, you better be ready for the wrath of the Internet and teenage girls everywhere.

The Starving Games, produced by Ketchup Entertainment and The Safran Company, will be released November 8.
