You've probably never considered the fact that cartoon characters have birthdays, but they do and June 9 marks a very important one. Donald Duck turned 80 on Monday after first appearing on film on June 9, 1934 in the short movie The Wise Little Hen. Donald has come a long way since then — he's won an Oscar (in 1943 for the short anti-Nazi film Der Feuhrer's Face, he's had two voices (Clarence Nash from his birth until 1985 and Tony Anselmo from 1985 to the present), and has been joined by new family members like Huey, Dewey, and Louie who were introduced in 1937 and his uncle Scrooge McDuck who made his first appearance in 1947.
Donald Duck continues to live on in cartoon form as well as at Disney theme parks. At Disneyland and Disney World, Donald hangs out with park goers and shows off his fashion sense with a number of different themed outfits, so we've decided to honor Donald on his 80th birthday by taking a look at some of his best ensembles from Christmas Duck to Cowboy Duck.
Happy birthday, Donald! Here's to 80 more years! (Also, your plastic surgeon is doing a fantastic job! You could pass for 30, for sure.)
