Ellie Kemper Is Annoyed With 'Star Wars' Fanboys

OK, so this isn't the most serious song in the world — in fact, it's actually from a comedy-music benefit compilation called 2776: A Millennium of American Asskickery, so that should really tell you something about how seriously we're actually meant to take it. But, Neko Case and her glorious voice are involved, and Ellie Kemper and her glorious face are involved, so I'm automatically at least slightly interested. At least it's funny: In a new music video for Neko Case's and Kelly Hogan's Star Wars-inspired "These Aren't the Droids," Ellie Kemper plays a girlfriend who's extremely annoyed with her boyfriend, who just so happens to be a stormtrooper as well as a terrible boyfriend. I tell ya, all men are the same.

The song itself, which is clearly one recorded for comedy, is based off that legendary line from 1977's Star Wars that everyone, even the people who haven't seen Star Wars, know — and it includes amusing lyrics like "So, now we're here in 2091/ and it looks like a permanent Comic-Con" as well as, "But we didn't realize/ the future was designed by a teenage guy." Take this one with a sense of humor, guys — it's worth it, because Ellie Kemper is hilarious in the video.
