Joss Whedon's Now "Resurrected" 'Firefly'

by Alanna Bennett

It seems the floodgates have been opened. King Geek Joss Whedon's relationship with Twitterer @ThoughtOtter has progressed to the next level, apparently, and that level includes Whedon resurrecting Firefly in doodle form. Dude knows how to get fans riled, that's for sure.

This particular doodle comes but a week after Whedon's first recent "resurrection," that of Buffy the Vampire Slayer , which he momentarily brought back with a napkin illustration that summed up much of the show's milieu. That one was pretty delightful, so it should come as no surprise that the one he did for Firefly is just as fun.

Unlike Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its seven seasons, Firefly is famous in large part because of its incredibly short lifespan. In other words, Whedon had a lot less to summarize. This particular doodle, which you can see below, features Captain Malcolm "Tight Pants" Reynolds (Nathan Fillion in doodle form) front and center, with arrows indicating he's "strong" and "silent," though I'd argue he was never much of the silent type. Flanking him are (I think?) River (Summer Glau doodle) and Wash (Alan Tudyk doodle), with the latter declaring that he is not, in fact (spoiler alert) deceased.

It all begs the question: What will Whedon bring back next? Dollhouse? Angel? Will he finally give us that actual Dr. Horrible sequel he's been promising us for ages, or will he just start doing some Avengers fanfic drawings in between takes of actually directing Avengers: Age Of Ultron?

Honestly I'll take anything, but I really would like that Dr. Horrible sequel eventually.

We must all thank @ThoughtOtter for these riches.
