Ouch, Martha Stewart Just Burned Blake

Everyone seems to have an opinion about Blake Lively's new site Preserve, myself included. But perhaps the one that matters the most is that from the person who really understands the ins and outs of what it takes to run a successful lifestyle business. Turns out, Martha Stewart does not love Blake Lively's website. When HuffPost Entertainment asked her what her thoughts were about Lively's new e-biz, well, she had some choice words.

First of all, Stewart called Lively's site a "blog." Then, when asked what she thought about Lively becoming "the next Martha Stewart," she said, "Let her try." Gasp! But wait, to be clear, she didn't intend for it to be read in a Marie Antoinette tone like, "Let them eat cake." Stewart laughed off the faux-diss, saying, "I don't mean that facetiously! I mean, it's stupid, she could be an actress!"

Ouch. Stewart has a point though. Lively had quite the successful run as Serena Van der Woodsen, why would she leave it all for something else? Even Stewart wants to be her! "Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress? I just did a movie yesterday, though — I can't even tell you about it — but I want to be Blake Lively."

Here's hoping Lively wasn't totally offended by Stewart's remarks and looked at them as more of a compliment. Because in addition to being Lively's idol, Stewart is actually a friend of hers and hubby Ryan Reynolds. In the August issue of Vogue, Lively said this about the DIY maven: "I’ve only ever found her to be completely generous and kind. She’s one of those people who connect people with each other. She’s there for you." What's more is that when things were going disastrous on Lively's wedding day, Stewart was the one who came to her rescue. "She called her friends who have a home in South Carolina and set us up at the most amazing getaway. This is the day of our wedding!”

Since they're such good friends, perhaps Lively will just laugh off Stewart's remarks. Plus, I'm sure Stewart has already sent over a perfectly arranged bouquet of fresh flowers from her garden as an apology.
