6 Times Kanye West & Britney Spears Sounded Almost Exactly Alike

Kanye West is quite a character. Outspoken and confident, listening to any West interview for five minutes, let alone to the whole thing, usually has most people bewildered by just how full of himself he can be. Or has them offended when West compares the paparazzi to being raped. His latest stunt is just as eyebrow raising, probably because it combines both of those two reactions into a single video. In the deposition transcript obtained by TMZ West essentially calls Britney Spears an idiot while simultaneously comparing his fight against the paparazzi to the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's. If you need to grab a bottle of aspirin and some water before I continue, I'm not judging you.

West's deposition was in the case of the 2013 incident where he assaulted a photographer and broke his camera. For some reason, the subject of the Civil Rights Movement came up. "I mean in the '60s people used to hold up Die N****r signs when my parents were in the sit-ins also," said West, making the world collectively sit up in anticipation of how exactly that had anything even remotely to do with modern paparazzi culture. Nate Goldberg, the lawyer who was representing the photographer, asked if he was comparing the two and West finished with,"Yes... I equate it to discrimination. I equate it to inequalities."

"I'm the smartest celebrity you've ever f*cking dealt with," West also said during the deposition. "I'm not Britney Spears." The obvious implication there was that he is either much smarter than Spears or that Spears isn't someone he considers smart at all, but either way it was unnecessary. It seems impossible at this point to get West to stop comparing the paparazzi to things that are incomparably worse, but his remarks about Spears are something we can fight against.

Sure, Spears and West are as different as it's possible for two celebrities to be, but they're not as different as West seems to think. In fact, we've unearthed five times that West and Spears have made similar quotes in their interviews, documentaries, and books. Maybe next time West will think twice before he makes that kind of comparison.
