Kaley Cuoco's Dress Is A Ballerina's Dream

by Tyler Atwood

If you think lace is a staid, and uninspired fabric to employ on the red carpet, the stars on the 2014 Emmys red carpet are determined to prove you wrong. The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco hit the Emmys in a lace-embellished, tiered crimson and fuchsia Monique Lhuillier gown that blatantly scoffs at both awards season tradition and the more understated looks to grace the carpet this year. But the question remains: is Cuoco's flamboyant number a sartorial success or a fashion fail?

The key three factors of any successful ensemble — fit, fabric, and color — were all executed brilliantly in Cuoco's look. The curve-enhancing sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice show off the actress's athletic frame, and recalls the floral Rani Zakhem Couture gown she wore to the 2014 Golden Globes. Meanwhile, delicate tulle gave the gown a sweetly ethereal air. And the brilliant Louboutin-red shade is vibrant enough to turn the head of paparazzi and fans alike. I'm guessing Cuoco's hubby Ryan Sweeting is basking in the company of his beautifully-clad wife. However, the dress is an acquired taste, and tiers are a tough trend to pull off for those who don't have the long, lanky proportions of a supermodel. One might say that the dress looks like a vibrant extra look from Black Swan. However, Cuoco simply beamed in her statement look, and nothing rockets an ensemble to the top of a best dressed list faster than confidence. You rock that ensemble, Cuoco!
