She's Designed A Ring To Help Other Mothers

by Tess Yocom

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher might be the most adorable new parents on the planet, but Kunis is ready to spread the love abroad. She might be a new mom, but she’s not letting that stop her from giving back. To celebrate the birth of her daughter, Wyatt Isabelle, Mila Kunis teamed up with Italian jeweler Marina B. to create a ring that symbolizes her new role as a parent. The best part? 100 percent of the proceeds go towards help other mothers around the world.

The 18-karat yellow-gold band is topped with an emerald stone — to symbolize her new role as a mom, of course. “Precious green emeralds are traditionally symbols of motherhood, wisdom, and long-lasting love,” Kunis said in a statement to Vogue. All of the proceeds from the $4,800 ring will go towards the opening four maternity wards at the newly created Gemfields Nkana Health Center in Zambia.

The Friends With Benefits actress has been a global ambassador for Gemfields — a responsibility sourced jewelry brand — since earlier this year. Although the jewelry store hasn’t announced the release date of its newest Mila creation, the ring can be reserved on their website. Kunis has spoken out about only partnering with brands she believes it, so it’s clear that this cause is close to her heart.

It’s refreshing to see a celebrity use her “new mommy” fame to turn around and help an important cause. Sure, a $4,800 ring may be a tad expensive for the everyday jewelry fan (especially one who has to worry about buying diapers now...), but the proceeds can make a huge impact on maternity wards in Zambia.

The entire story makes me even happier for Ashton and Mila. That ‘70s Show marathon, anyone?
