'Fault In Our Stars' Finds Its Peter Van Houten

With filming for the upcoming The Fault In Our Stars movie adaptation underway, the cast of the Josh Boone project is finally close to being finalized. The newest addiction to the Shailene Woodley- Ansel Elgort-headlined film: According to a tweet from author John Green, Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe has joined the cast as Dr. Peter Van Houton, the alcoholic author who is Hazel (Woodley)'s literary idol.

Dafoe, if you're not familiar, is well known for a myriad of roles he's played throughout his over 30-year career: He was, for instance, the Green Goblin in the 2002 Tobey MaGuire-starring adaptation of Spider-Man, and he starred in Lars von Trier's 2009 goriest gory nightmare-inducing movie you've ever seen, Antichrist.

As previously reported, the upcoming Fault In Our Stars adaptation — which is, of course, based on the wildly successful bestselling book by John Green — is set to star Woodley, Elgort, Nat Wolff, Laura Dern, and Sam Merlotte himself (OK, Sam Trammell).

The book, which has broken the hearts of millions already, follows the story of a young girl named Hazel who has terminal cancer, and follows her friendship with a boy she meets in a cancer support group, Gus, who lost his leg to bone cancer.

The project is currently filming now, and is set to hit theaters sometime next year.
