The '10 Things I Hate About You' Cast Reunited

In the midst of all your childhood shows and movies doing reunions, 10 Things I Hate About You had a little reunion of its own. Karen McCullah, a screenwriter for the 1999 hit, tweeted a picture on Saturday of several of the crew and cast from the film. Joining McCullah for the throwback shot were co-writer Kirsten Smith and actors Andrew Keegan, David Krumholtz, Susan May Pratt, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Although that's a pretty good cross-section of the film, a few faces were noticeably absent including Larisa Oleynik, Gabrielle Union and Larry Miller. Neither of the movie's lead characters were there with Julia Stiles absent and Heath Ledger sadly no longer with us.

Reunions of childhood favorites are all the rage right now. Entertainment Weekly devoted an entire issue of their magazine to what the actors of Mean Girls, Ghostbusters, and the like are up to today. Gilmore Girls is even getting an official reunion with a panel of cast members and everything. But I'm glad the 10 Things I Hate About You reunion was a low-key Twitter picture without everyone there. I don't think they should ever do a full-scale reunion because it would be so weird and sad to do it without Ledger.

It's not like he was a background character or even a sidekick. He was one half of the main couple and it's just not 10 Things I Hate About You without him. If there was a gathering of everyone in the movie besides Ledger it would cast a pall over the event, whatever good intentions it might have had. As great as that movie is, and as fun as it is to see what the characters look like today, this is one movie that doesn't need a flashy reunion. If a few of them want to get together every once in awhile for a picture, that's OK. But anything more organized than that would be more sad than cool.
