You're Gonna Wanna Watch HBO's New Show

by Emma Goddard

With movies like There Will Be Blood, Where the Wild Things Are, and 12 Years a Slave under his belt, Paul Dano has grown tremendously in his acting roles since his days as Dwayne Hoover in Little Miss Sunshine. And now, it looks like he has even more epic acting in store for us with reports that Paul Dano has signed on for HBO’s pilot Codes Of Conduct, which will reunite him with 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen.

Thanks to McQueen, Dano will have the opportunity to play character Jared Rotmenson, a “hip yet altruistic entrepreneur,” according to Deadline, who helps series star Devon Terrell’s character Beverly Snow as he breaks into New York’s high society. The overall story will focus on Snow as he enters his journey, learning what it’s like to be a young black man in this new world of Manhattan’s upper-class community.

Though there has been no word about his involvement in the show from Dano himself, word has it that the HBO show will start filming for the pilot next week in New York. With this already, quite obviously, being a drama of some sort — we are talking HBO after all — McQueen and co-writer Matthew Michael Carnahan made a smart pick by putting their faith in Dano. After having been in numerous high-profile films, many of them with serious storylines, Dano is sure to bring a lot to this project.
