This Woman's Black Friday Craigslist Ad Is Awesome

by Michelle Regalado

As diehard Black Friday shoppers know, it takes a lot of commitment to get those doorbuster deals, from a 4 a.m. wake-up call to the hours spent staked out in front of stores in the blistering cold. That’s probably why one Chicago woman decided she might as well make the most of that time spent waiting for the doors to open — she posted a Craigslist ad looking for a potential first date to join her in line outside a local Target on Black Friday.

First reported by Cosmopolitan, the 26-year-old woman posted an ad in Chicago’s personals on Craigslist, looking for a man to join her during her overnight wait for discounted Target merchandise. “I’m pretty crazy to be standing in line but it’s my first time doing something like this,” she wrote in the ad. “If you want to be cold and join me, that’s awesome. You will be getting great deals.” Well, I guess that’s one way to meet someone new!

I can’t help but be curious to know if she actually ended up getting any responses to the ad. Unfortunately, we still don’t know whether or not the shopper ended up nabbing a date (although chances are she probably did nab a few amazing early bird bargains). Regardless, you gotta give her points for resourcefulness. It takes a creative mind to see the dreaded Black Friday sale queues as an opportunity for love.

Standing outside a store on a cold November night seems like the exact opposite of what most would think of as an appropriate first date activity, but then again, nothing will bond two people faster than fending off other rabid shoppers while you bargain hunt together. And at least you'd have someone in line to save your spot when you need a bathroom break. Sounds like a real modern day holiday love story, if you ask me.
