'Madea's Family Christmas' Gets Trailer, And Yes, Those Movies Are Still Happening
Yes, in case you were wondering, Tyler Perry is still making movies. It'd be pretty hard to stop him at this point, no matter how hard we groan about it. And so we have a trailer for Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas .
This most recent beacon of cinematic excellence is the eighth in Perry's line of Madea movies. The trailer doesn't actually show much footage from the movie itself, instead just showing Perry's character Madea sassing some children and acting as a mall Santa.
We live in an age when franchises seem to be the name of the game for the film industry — if a Tyler Perry or a Michael Bay is making you billions of dollars, why stop? — but a staggering eight movies in the Madea franchise? Now that's just exhausting — and probably extremely telling in about a thousand different ways. Nevertheless, they keep happening, and who are we to stop it? After all, the last Madea movie, 2011's Madea's Big Happy Family, raked in $25.8 million in its opening weekend ($53.4 million total) and second place at the box office.
The film hits theaters Dec. 13 and stars such respected thespians as Kathy Najimy, Chad Michael Murray, and Larry the Cable Guy. Because, really, who else?
