These 5 Words Could Destroy Even A Good Date

Leave it to Twitter to make everyone feel a little solidarity in spilling their awkward-sauce all over the place. I don't think there is any shared human experience quite like that "womp wommmmmp" feeling you get when your date takes you out to a parking lot and brags about his multiple arrests and assault charges (true story) or does something similarly cringeworthy and deal-breaking. Bad dates—hypothetical and real—have now been immortalized by the Twitter hashtag #5WordsToRuinADate. If you thought you had experienced a bad date before, I can assure you that what you've been through pales in comparison to some of the things our friends and neighbors on Twitter have concocted over the last few days.

We all know firsthand just how unsettling the prospect of dating can be right now. Pretty much everyone is meeting online and there's no "But really, are you secretly a total creep?" question on people's OKCupid profiles. I guess half the fun of dating, though, is the luck of the draw; life is a box of chocolates, you never know what kind of human being you're going to get when you go out with someone the first time. I hope, whomever you end up sharing tapas with, it's nobody like any of these people:
