The Super Bowl Is Messing Up Your 'Girls' Schedule

by Kelly Schremph

I can't speak for all of you, but Sunday nights are usually a pretty big deal in my household. Whether it involves award shows or a fantastic television program, my evenings are usually spent with a bottle of wine and a primo spot on the living room couch, just waiting to get my pop culture fill. It's a routine I've grown quite fond of, which is why I couldn't help but notice that this particular Sunday on Feb. 1 has everything completely out of whack. In fact, a new episode of Girls isn't even on. (The nerve!) So what's to blame for this unacceptable disruption in my TV lounging? As usual, sports appears to be the main culprit.

You see, this isn't just any regular Sunday… this is Super Bowl Sunday, which basically guarantees NBC is in for a massive ratings spike. Pretty much everyone tunes into the big game (even me on occasion if the promise of good food is involved), so there's a good chance that HBO decided to do a preemptive strike on the situation by holding off on all new Girls episodes until the following week. It's the smart thing to do, really. There's no point in debuting new stuff when your viewership is bound to take a drastic hit. So sometimes the best way to compete is by not competing at all.

And since I'm sure that you, like me, are finding yourselves kinda bummed about the whole ordeal, I thought it would be fun to predict how our favorite Girls characters would react upon hearing the terrible news.

Hannah Would Be Overwhelmed

As we all know at this point, Hannah (God love her) tends to make everything about Hannah. So she would undoubted spearhead a major group discussion about how this change up will impact her life in numerous and unforeseen ways. Be prepared to read all about it in her memoirs.

Jessa Would Be Indifferent

This girl doesn't concern herself with such petty, insignificant problems. Heck, she probably doesn't even own a TV.

Shoshanna Would Be Outraged

After all, this is like a really big deal and totally needs to be taken seriously. Girl would put the NFL in their place!

Marnie Would Sink Into a Depression

Because missing out on your favorite TV shows is no laughing matter. (It really isn't, you guys.)

Elijah Would Want to Party

There's no situation that a ton of alcohol can't fix.

And Adam Would Sleep Through the Pain

Naps for the win!

But it's going to be OK, you guys. Just take comfort in knowing that we're all in this TV slump together. See you next week.
