This "Vaccinate Your Kids" Tote Makes A Statement

With the recent measles outbreak dominating headlines around the country, the discussion on childhood vaccinations has become an extremely hot topic over the past month. It's an issue that's diving political parties and parents alike, and it seems like many people feel extremely strong about it one way or the other. If you want to take vaccine advocacy to the next level, there is some good news — there's a tote bag made just for you, and it reads "Vaccinate Your Fucking Kids." Expressing yourself through fashion doesn't get much clearer than that.

There's a more toned-down option featuring a graphic with the acronym VYFK, along with some tees and bumper stickers, but I have to say, even though I'm all for letting your opinions be heard, I'm not sure this is the right way to do it. It's a sensitive issue — can our government tell people that they have to have their children injected with tiny amounts of a virus for the greater good? Now, I'm not a politician, a doctor, or a mother for that matter, but I think we can. Vaccines are an incredible medical tool we have at our disposal, and an important one at that.

However, I'm not sure carrying a tote angrily showing your opinion to people who believe otherwise would help matters. Yes, free speech is our right, but is something this hostile and forward going to affect change? Probably not. That said, you might strike up some interesting conversations with people or learn something you didn't know before, so if this tote is your thing, have at it.

And, seriously, please please vaccinate your kids.
