Creators of Seth Cohen & 'Juno' Uniting For a Show

by Alanna Bennett

Whether you've been eagerly awaiting or dreading the day when Juno writer Diablo Cody would make her return to writing teen protagonists, now is your time: Cody is developing a teen show with The O.C. producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz. Wait, the creators of Seth Cohen and Juno MacGuff are uniting? To create some kind of sudsy teen super-show? Excuse us while we set our DVRs for a show that doesn't even exist yet and contemplate all the different indie songs and quippy references that will be flung this time around. Iconic teen characters are just waiting to be created, people.

The show will be called Prodigy, and is set to be aired on Fox and produced by ABC Studios and Savage and Schwartz' company Fake Empire. Here's the show's premise, according to Deadline:

It centers on a 16-year-old genius who through home schooling has been isolated from her peers. Hoping to experience a “normal” teen social life before she enters the adult world of academia, she enrolls in her local high school. But her experiment goes off the rails when she finds herself adopted by a wild crowd, getting caught up in a whirlwind of romance and crime.

Romance and crime! It's like she's a Doogie Houser turned Ryan Atwood; Like Smart Guy meets Freaks and Geeks. Honestly, that sounds like the perfect combination of things to us and we cannot wait. Savage and Schwartz did, after all, create both The O.C. and Gossip Girl together, folks. Remember those? The greatest shows of our time?
