The 'Paranormal Activity' Spinoff Trailer

There probably didn't need to be yet another Paranormal Activity movie, but hey, this is Hollywood; lots of movies that don't have to exist end up getting produced. So here you go: The first trailer for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones , which is a spinoff of the original franchise that's set in Oxnard, California.

Deadline points out that the film features primarily hispanic actors, because the studio wanted to "target the franchise's sizable Latino audience." So this time, instead of the plot surrounding a haunted house, this film seems to focus on a lot of Catholic-based mythology – however, the tone and visual style seem to be exactly the same. Shit gets creepy, and it's all filmed in "found footage" (read: shaky camera) style because that keeps the budget for these movies low.

This will probably do very well in theaters, too, and considering it was likely very cheap to make, Paramount is going to make a lot on this. Probably expect Paranormal Activity: The Ones are Marked Again to be in theaters at some point in 2015, if so.

Anyway, you can check out the trailer below. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is set to hit theaters on Jan. 3, 2014.
