Shailene Woodley Confused MTV With Coachella

Shailene Woodley might be known for her, um, unorthodox ways (beet juice lipstick and eating clay, anyone?), but her sense of style is usually anything but bizarre. Girl can rock a pantsuit better than anyone — okay, so not better than Kristen Stewart, but still — but she also kills it whenever she decides to go the pretty dress route. Woodley isn't exactly one to rock a sparkly mermaid cut on the red carpet, instead opting for edgier silhouettes, such as the backless ivory Ralph Lauren column she wore for the Insurgent premiere or long-sleeved, butterfly printed Valentino. However, Shailene Woodley's MTV Movie Awards ensemble was a bit confusing.

Woodley hit the blue carpet at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards wearing... a striped three-quarter sleeve top with a scooped back and patterned high-waisted Isabel Marant pants. She accessorized with a studded belt, some dainty jewelry, and heavy black ankle boots. While her cute up 'do and fuchsia lipstick were on-point, the outfit itself left me a little cold. Sure, this is MTV and not the Academy, but the whole thing felt a bit too casual. It sort of looked like she was at Coachella and remembered at the last minute that she had another commitment.

See what I mean? I'm all for mixing prints, but there's something very off about this combination. I like the pieces separately (okay, not the boots), but they don't really work together.

And these boots! They're just so... clunky.

That makeup, however...

Wonder if she's wearing that beet juice on her lips?
