Vans x & Other Stories Casts 86 Year Old Model

by Emily Kirkpatrick

Just in case an amazing collaboration between Vans and & Other Stories wasn't enough to send most of you running out squealing into the streets and all the way to your closest store, their new campaign starring 86-year-old model Daphne Selfe will definitely get you out the door. But, true to both brands innovative, cutting-edge of cool style, these aren't your run of the mill lookbook photos. Selfe has been modeling since before either of these companies even existed and could teach Beyoncé a thing or two about the meaning of #flawless!

Selfe got her first big break in 1948 when she landed the cover of The Reading Review. The 86-year-old who's posed for the pages of Vogue and strutted her stuff on the catwalk is often referred to as the "oldest supermodel in the world," although I'm sure Carmen Dell'Orefice would have something to say about that. It's true, however, that since Selfe was invited to be photographed by Nick Knight in 1999, she's booked more high fashion jobs than most models a quarter of her age. Looking at this new campaign, I can certainly see why. Selfe has style and swagger to spare, which is good news for her career, bad news for the poor twenty-something model who has to pose beside her.

And even more gorgeous than Daphne herself? The shoes that she's wearing. The collection is appropriately in line with the Swedish brands hyper-minimalist, yet still totally on-trend aesthetic. The collaboration features low-top lace-ups and classic slip-on styles in the perfect summer-y nude pink and & Other Stories' signature pattern mash-up of hand-painted polka dots and stripes.

I'll personally be counting down the days until I can get my hands on a pair of those blush-colored low tops.
