Sia's New Track Is A Disco Anthem

by Alex Kritselis

This will put a little extra pep in your step: On Thursday, Giorgio Moroder and Sia premiered their new song, “Déjà Vu," and it's a shimmering disco-pop anthem that'll have you cuttin' a rug harder than John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. The glorious feel-good track is taken from Moroder's upcoming new album of the same name, which also features collaborations with Britney Spears, Charli XCX, and Kylie Minogue. The now 74-year-old musician is often credited with starting the disco craze in the United States, and once you hear “Déjà Vu's" fantastic production, you'll totally understand why!

On “Déjà Vu," pop music songstress Sia joyfully warbles (with varying degrees of intelligibility) about finally finding her perfect match. This guy's so perfect, in fact, she's convinced she must've known him in another life. Makes sense! Well... kind of. On the song's first verse and pre-chorus, Sia sings:

Witchcraft, voodoo

Love spells, ??? (Sorry, I have no idea what she's singing here.)

Potions, lotion

Perfume, to find you

Good men come to those who wait

I think I found my baby

Good men come to those who wait

I think I found my baby

Oh, my heart ached, but I knew fate would send you my way

And when you came, my heart was saved

I've known you for lifetimes, baby

Let's take a moment to acknowledge just how campy and brilliant the lyric "Good men come to those who wait" is. OK, now that we've gotten that out of the way, here's the delightful chorus:

I'm falling for you, I'm feeling the déjà vu (déjà vu)

I'm falling for you, I know I've got nothing to lose

Déjà vu, déjà vu

Déjà vu, déjà vu

Don't you feel at least 8,000 percent more ready to take on the day now? I think we could all use a little more disco in our lives, to be honest.

“Déjà Vu" is currently available on iTunes and Spotify. Keep an eye out for Moroder's new LP on June 12.
