Free Dunkin' Coffee In Chicago, On One Condition

by Alicia Lu

Chicago Blackhawks fans, this is your lucky day. Because the team won Wednesday night's game in the Stanley Cup opener, Dunkin' Donuts is offering free coffee to Blackhawks fans on Thursday. Using the chain's app, visit any participating store in Chicago, mention that you're a Blackhawks fan, and get a free medium iced coffee.

Wednesday night was pretty major for the Windy City — for hockey fans at least. The Chicago Blackhawks conquered the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 in Tampa, Florida, in the first game of the final series leading up to a Stanley Cup title. Needless to say, the city was in good spirits, and it's safe to say that many fans stayed up late celebrating their team's achievement. So what better way to keep up the celebration and remedy their collective hangover than with free coffee?

On Wednesday evening, Dunkin' Donuts announced that multiple Chicago locations would offer a free 24-oz. iced coffee to Blackhawks fans on Thursday if the team was victorious. Luckily, they were. Can you imagine how awkward that tweet would have been if the team had lost? "About that free coffee — have we mentioned how beautiful you all look today? Try our new Chips Ahoy donut!"

Thankfully, there was no need for that awkward tweet, and free coffee is being handed out as I type this. While it's unquestionably a generous move on Dunkin' Donuts' part, it's still a rather exclusive offer. Regardless of their sports allegiance, the people of Chicago work hard and they all deserve a free iced coffee now and then.

But no fear! The chain is treating the general population on Friday to celebrate National Donut Day. Participating locations across the country will be giving out a free donut with the purchase of any beverage. Here's a handy guide to where you can get free donuts on Friday. Because life is filled with uncertainty, the least you can do is get free stuff from Dunkin' Donuts.
