Tavi Shows Petite Ladies How To Rock Culottes

by Madison Fraser

If there's anything we've learned from the Kendall-Gigi clan, it's that culottes are the new pant trend. And of course it looks amazing on their 5'10 supermodel silhouettes, but what about all the shorter girls out there? Cue trend-setting 19-year-old magazine editor and actress, Tavi Gevinson, who proves petite girls can wear culottes too.

On Monday evening, Gevinson stepped out in Stella McCartney cream culottes cinched at the waist with a ropey green-blue belt for the designer's resort presentation. The Rookie editor-in-chief paired the pants with a crisp, white crop top and black sandals, and I have to say, this outfit looks straight out of a Topshop ad. If you've ever been wary of experimenting with a wide-legged pant on a small frame, Gevinson should definitely be your next pin on the style board.

Just like the old cliché "wearing horizontal stripes makes you look wider," petites wearing strong silhouettes is often a style no-no (remember gauchos?) — but clearly that's not the case! This is yet another reason to toss that style rule book out the window. Topped with a cropped tank, I'd say even say culottes break up the length and elongate a small frame. Thank you, Tavi, for opening the eyes of all those below 5'5.

Take a look at the full outfit below, and get ready to go invest in your first pair of culottes.
