Homophobic Or Just Really Pissed Off?

by Alanna Bennett

Alec Baldwin's been in some hot water lately because of that homophobic slur he verbally hurled at another human. Now his daughter is firing back at that hot water (and we're mixing metaphors) — Ireland Baldwin took to twitter to defend her dad, asserting that her dad is not a homophobe despite his use of the slur.

"My dad is far from a homophobe or racist," the younger Baldwin wrote from her twitter account Sunday. She pins the blame in the situation on the paparazzi whom the elder Baldwin yelled the thing, which is fair in that the paparazzi are documented neusances, but it's not like anything actually excuses a straight man using slurs like that.

To be fair to Ireland, she does seem to get that point: "We all say things we don't mean. We all say things we can't take back." she wrote. "My point being, what my dad said was WRONG. What my dad felt WASN'T."

"Sometimes we let our tempers get the best of us. Tempers are like wildfires. Something or someone can easily fuel the fire."

So basically what Ireland's pointing out here is that Alec Baldwin's got a raging temper problem, regardless of whether or not he actually sees gay people as beneath him. Which we really already knew about. Yay?
