This Makeup Artist Turns Into Fictional Monsters

by Stephanie Chon

Makeup transformations can sometimes be jarring when you witness someone entirely altering their natural beauty. But there are also fun and captivating transformations that makeup can achieve, like makeup artist Emily Anderson transforming herself into monsters and demons using makeup and face paint. She's only 23 years old, but has already done a lot of special effects makeup in LA. Needless to say, her Instagram is filled with super mesmerizing transformations that you're going to need to prepare yourself for.

I love how Anderson isn't afraid to use her entire body as her canvas, rather than remaining constricted to her face. In a lot of her masterpieces, she goes down her neck or around her collar bones to really make the monsters pop out. Although Anderson is clearly working with a three-dimensional canvas with ridges and dips (aka her face), I would image that it must be extremely difficult to create the illusion of a 3D monster.

However, if you watch some of her Instagram videos, you can see her precision in her shadowing and coloring. She has one video of her face painted as a snarling wolf and she drew green animalistic eyes on her eyelids so that when her eyes are closed, they look like they're still open. Sure, the idea has been done before, but it's still pretty trippy if you take a look at how Anderson pulled it off.

Here are some other captivating pieces that she's done:

1. Venom

Marvell fans will love this.

2. Monsters Wearing Human Masks

This might be my favorite of them all.

3. Doomsday

Looks like Anderson is Team DC Comics and Team Marvell.

4. Medusa

This artistic interpretation is crazy awesome.

5. Vampire Queen

Angles are everything for this piece.

6. Human Android

The illusions are too cool on this one.

7. Howl's Moving Castle

Miyazaki lovers are going to scream for this transformation.
