Rihanna Almost Wore Something Else To The Met Gala

by Stephanie Chon

Just when you thought the world forgot about the bright yellow cape that Rihanna wore to the Met Gala with, it's back in the news. But this time it isn't about how gracefully RiRi integrated the event's theme that celebrated Chinese designers, it's about how Rihanna almost didn't wear that Guo Pei cape. I know, so crazy, right?!

Think about how different the event would've been if Empress RiRi didn't come donned in her epic cape that required three people to hold while she was walking. Not only would the focus of the night have been embellished sheer dresses, but the Internet would have significantly less hilarious memes of Rihanna's cape edited as a pizza.

When Rihanna and Guo Pei were thinking about the artist's Met Gala outfit, Pei recalls thinking that the cape wasn't, "the right dress for her." But Pei told WWD, "I thought it would be too heavy and too hot, but she was so touched the moment she put it on." The singer definitely has an eye for fashion and it's a good thing too because Rihanna's ultimate choice brought a lot of attention to Guo Pei, which is exactly what the event's theme was set out to do.

If you're not a big fan of Bad Gal RiRi, I'm sure it's kind of hard to believe that this empress is the same girl bleeding everywhere in her latest music video for, "B**** Better Have My Money," but you better believe it is. The girl is a fashion chameleon, unafraid to change her style from one event to the next. And that is perhaps the reason I love her most.
