Celebrities React To Lafayette Shooting

by Jaclyn Anglis

Upsetting news came out of Louisiana on Thursday night: A gunman opened fire in a movie theater in Lafayette, leaving three dead — victims Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson, and the gunman himself — and injuring nine on July 23, according to officials. The shooter was identified as John Russell Houser by local police during a Friday morning press conference.

The shooting took place during a showing of the movie Trainwreck at the local theater, and the victims ranged in age from teenagers to senior citizens. While Houser's motive has not yet been confirmed, what we do all know so painfully well is that this shooting is the latest in a string of gun violence attacks in America in recent years. This shooting comes just over a month after the mass shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. It also follows the shooting at the movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, the shooting at Sandy Hook school, and too many more to count.

Many people have been making a point to voice their heartbreak and anger, and celebrities are no exception, Trainwreck star and writer, Amy Schumer, included. Here is a roundup of some of the celebrity reactions that have been posted so far:
