Sarah Friedmann

Sarah works on Bustle's news team covering policy, politics, and current events. She is also a freelance writer, research consultant, and advocate who specializes in domestic and international policy and politics, human rights, women's issues, and multisector collaboration. Sarah has previously served as a staff researcher and writer in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, while based in Washington, D.C., she helped lead international research and advocacy portfolios on women, peace, and security, and reproductive health care quality and rights. Earlier in her career, she held various positions and fellowships at the United Nations Development Program: Kosovo, the United States Senate in Washington, D.C., the City-Parish Government of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the Interuniversity Mission for the Coordination of Franco-American Exchanges in Paris, France. She holds both a Master of Science (MS) in Foreign Service and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from Georgetown University. She also majored in International Affairs, French, and Communications while studying for her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at Baldwin Wallace University. Sarah hails from northwest suburban Chicago, though she's lived on the East Coast or abroad for many years. She speaks French and enjoys traveling the world, having lived in, worked in, or visited dozens of countries throughout Africa, Asia, and Europe.
