If you’re a Love Island fanatic who watches the show every year without fail, you’ll know that the eighth series of the ITV2 dating show started on Monday, June 7. And if the thought of coupling up with someone on the show has crossed your mind, you’ll be pleased to know that the show is still accepting applicants for 2022. (Yes, really!) Keep reading for all the details you need to apply for Love Island’s 2022 series and enjoy a summer of love and chaos.

Fans will know that the format of Love Island is structured in a way that new Islanders (or “bombshells” as they’re known) can continually join the show as the series progresses. The first episode of the series saw the 11 contestants enter the Spanish villa – but there will be more contestants joining in future episodes.

Applications to join Love Island can be found on the ITV website. It’s not entirely clear when applications close, so you better get in there quickly. At the time of publication, ITV said “applications will remain open until we announce a closing date on the Love Island Website.” So get a wiggle on.

However, it’s important to note that there are some eligibility requirements in order to apply for the show, which includes being over the age of 18. Currently, the youngest contestant on the show is 19-year-old Gemma Owen, who also happens to be the daughter of football legend, Michael Owen.

As Love Island 2022 is a 10-week programme, you must also be exclusively available to take part in the programme for a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks. And, of course, as Love Island requires UK applicants to travel abroad, you will also need a valid passport.
