Remember the satisfying rush of going to a Blockbuster? There was nothing like the thrill of walking past all those movies and making your choice. Scrolling past titles on Netflix isn't quite as thrilling, and sometimes, you accidentally click right past a movie or television show that could have changed your life. But alas, the times, they are a-changin', and the days of carefully choosing a VHS or DVD for your slumber party have been replaced by casually scrolling down a webpage for your Netflix and chill.

Don't feel bad though, as many of us are victims of scrolling on by so many potential great movies and shows on Netflix. Besides, there are penances you can do to resolve the issue, like take a gander at some of the many Netflix titles you've been scrolling away from without a care in the world.

'The Get Down'

There are so many reasons to love the glorious hip hop fable that is Baz Luhrmann's TV show The Get Down. Check this one out, now.

'A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night'

Maybe the long title had you avoiding this movie, but but the film has a skateboarding, burka-wearing, lady vampire, so I really don't think I need to explain much more why you should watch it.

'Nurse Jackie'

Sometimes, the ideal Netflix show is the one which makes you feel slightly less guilty about your personal vices. Jackie Peyton (Edie Falco) is a nurse at a busy hospital who has the not-so-legal or ethical vice of abusing pain killers on the job. Her escapades are a lot to take in, but definitely entertaining.

'A Trip To The Moon'

You've probably never seen this movie because it's pretty old, but if you watch it, you'll observe a piece of film history. See the original wonders of visual effects and sound like an intellectual at your next social gathering.

'The Birthday Boys'

This hilarious sketch comedy show is only two seasons, so just give it a try, why don't ya?

'Blackfish'

If you skipped right on by this documentary about the mistreatment of orcas because you didn't want to feel bummed out, now is your chance to redeem yourself and learn something.

'A Young Doctor's Notebook'

A show starring Daniel Radcliffe and Jon Hamm as the younger/older version of the same small-town doctor needs to be seen.

'TiMER'

What if there was a device on your body that predicted the exact time you would meet your soul mate? The 2009 movie TiMER is the perfect flick to make you feel a little better about your dating life.

'Malcolm In The Middle'

It's been more than a decade since we all fell in love with the dysfunctional family in Malcolm in the Middle. Now is the perfect time to check up on the often-violent, always humorous exploits of this male-heavy family. You totally deserve the nostalgia.

'13TH'

Ava Duvernay's look at the the mass incarceration of African Americans in the United States is a must-watch, as this tear-jerking documentary takes a hard look at injustice in the system.

'Scream'

In this funny and scary MTV series, the small town of Lakewood can't seem to shake that Ghostface guy from the Scream movies. Prepare to scream and laugh almost simultaneously.

'Melancholia'

A movie with such a well, melancholy title might not immediately seem appealing. But this beautiful drama starring Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg as sisters dealing with the potential end of the planet is worth all the tears.

'Bojack Horseman'

Maybe you gave this witty series a glance when it first appeared on Netflix in 2014, but weren't impressed. But I tell you, the show has since then created three hilarious, heartbreaking, and horse pun-filled seasons. Give it another try.

'Top Of The Lake'

A nice, short series is the perfect fit if you're trying to get your marathon on for an extended weekend. This seven-episode mystery follows Detective Robin Griffin (Elisabeth Moss) as she attempts to solve the disappearance of a pregnant 12-year-old. The series is set to have a Season 2, so maybe that will also someday come to Netflix for your next marathon sesh.
