If you're one of those people who feels like bright lip colors just don't suit you right, we're here to prove you wrong. A traffic-stopping shade is actually the easiest and best way to update your look (short of purchasing a new wardrobe), and it's not as terrifying as it sounds. All you need to do is tone down the eyeshadow, and skip the contour (if you're not into a full-face of makeup).
To show you how easy it is to pull off a statement lip, we teamed up with Sephora Collection for Episode 4 of the The Beauty Lab, "Bold Lips 101." This week is all about the brightest, boldest colors out there. See below for a sneak peek of our favorite products and what we learned.
The Beauty Lab is an Instagram Stories series presented by Bustle & Sephora Collection, available only on @Bustle. Each Friday, Irma Elezovic, Bustle's branded beauty editor, will join Helen Phillips, the National Artist for Sephora Collection, to demystify the latest beauty trends.
Here's What We Tried:
Here's What We Learned:
1. Apply A Lip Liner First & Then A Gloss
If you're into customization, then you'll love this. I first applied the Rouge Gel Lip Liner in a red shade, and then topped it off with Colorful Gloss Balm in blue. The combo created a bold, shiny purple lip that was perfect for day or night.
2. There's A Shade For Everyone — Seriously.
3. Comfortable, Non-Drying Matte Lipsticks DO Exist
The last thing anybody wants on their lips is a super-drying lipstick. Cream Lip Stain not only delivers serious pigment, but it also feels great and does not budge.
