Glossier Is Launching A Liquid Exfoliator & The Reviews Are Already In

Glossier has never done anything conventionally, and they're proving that they won't be any time soon. As Hypebae found, Glossier created a liquid exfoliator called Solution. They snuck the news into their most recent blog post, and it didn't take fans long to catch on. Not only is the big news here, but the reviews are already in, too.

Glossier had one heck of a year in 2017. On top of the brand branching out their products to include makeup, skincare, and perfume, they also expanded their international shipping and opened stores abroad. It looks like they have just an exciting 2018 planned, too. Their first product of the new year is a liquid exfoliator called Solution, which was tested by Manouska Jeantus on the Glossier gTeam. In the blog post, Jeantus talks about “color complex," her journey with acne, and Solution. The product was — properly named — the solution to her acne and texture issues.

“[Glossier Product Development] gave me a bottle of Solution, a new Glossier product coming out in 2018. It’s a liquid exfoliator that harnesses the power of very safe skincare acids to control acne, retexturize skin, and turn up the brightness," Jeantus writes in the blog post.

Although the post doesn't include the exact launch day, it is exciting that they used a personal review to make the big announcement.

This post wasn't just your typical five-star, glowing review though. It was much more than that. Jeantus talks about her journey with makeup as a woman of color who has been on a journey to learn her skin. She says she hoped to fix her acne and texture issues by doing the Glossier experiment.

For one month, she ditched makeup and used Solution, as well as Milky Jelly Cleanser and two other creams. At the publication of the blog post, she was halfway through and already seeing benefits.

“I’m about halfway through this experiment—and it’s going well! My routine looks like this: Milky Jelly Cleanser, Solution swiped on with a cotton pad, a prescription topical if I feel a pimple coming on, some La Prairie eye cream, and Pai Geranium & Thistle Rebalancing Day Cream," Jeantus said in the post. "These days, I catch myself touching my face and whispering, ‘Wow, whose skin is this?’ The texture is smooth and the daily breakouts are minimal to none.”

This isn't the first skincare product that Glossier has launched. It builds on their cult classic Milky Jelly Cleanser, lip balms, masks, and facial oils. They also created an SPF in the past year that came out of nowhere and proved just how innovative the brand is.

Their new Solution proves the innovation is continuing. The typical exfoliator is either in bar or cream form. It's used to remove dead skin from your face, leaving for better cell growth and a smoother base.

"In addition to revealing fresh skin cells, exfoliating removes dead cells from pores, making them appear smaller," Rachel Nazarian, MD, a Manhattan dermatologist tells Cosmopolitan. "It's like sanding a wall before you paint."

Consider it the not-so-talked-about staple of skincare that just got reinvented. There's no word on how Solution feels on the skin, but, according to Jeantus it works wonders.

There's currently no photos shown of the packaging or a launch date, but this is definitely a product to watch out for in the new year. Something tells me there will be another blog post at the end of Jeantus' experiment, but you just never know when or where the details will come out.

Glossier is starting out 2018 with a bang. And, if last year is any indication, it's going to get even better from here.
