How To Get Julianne Hough's Tinker Bell-Inspired Hairstyle

by Alexa Tucker

Who says channeling your favorite Disney characters is reserved for October 31? Serving up some Peter Pan vibes, Julianne Hough's Tinker Bell-inspired hairstyle on Monday was beyond dreamy. Complete with a dainty top knot and chic faux bangs, she wore the look in honor of Dancing With The Stars' Disney week, but it's pretty amazing hair inspiration for day-to-day life, too.

Even though Tinker Bell isn't ~technically~ a member of the elite Disney Princess squad, Hough's hairstyle makes a strong case for it (with or without that whole royalty thing). The wrapped topknot is elegant and feminine, and it's styled so that the ends of her hair act as sleek, face-framing bands. It's the perfect balance of girly and edgy (sort of like Tinker Bell herself). Frosty pink lips and a sequined floral dress with fluttery sleeves finished off the look.

The best news? Hough's hairstylist Jill Buck revealed her sorcery to InStyle, so you can recreate the pretty updo for yourself. First, she created a tight ponytail with a top section of her hair from the crown (not the sides), then flatironed this section to be the bangs. Then, she flipped this section over to the front of her face and played around with them to make the fringe look natural, she told InStyle. After that, she pulled the rest of the hair into a high ponytail and secured it to the original mini ponytail. Finally, she worked her magic to create the wrapped topknot (although it'd probably look chic as a regular ponytail, too).

Hard to believe there's no actual fairy dust here, right?
