Mary Tyler Moore's Cause Of Death Revealed

It hasn't been quite a week since the passing of this legendary actor, but according to a new report, Mary Tyler Moore's cause of death has been determined. Based on her death certificate, which TMZ obtained, the TV icon died from cardiopulmonary arrest, which is when the heart stops beating, not to be confused with a heart attack. Reportedly, contributing factors to the cardiopulmonary arrest were aspiration pneumonia, hypoxia, and diabetes mellitus. TMZ also reports that no autopsy was performed. Bustle reached out to Moore's rep for confirmation, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

On Wednesday, Jan. 25, The Mary Tyler Moore Show star died at the age of 80 after being hospitalized. At the time of her death announcement, no official details were released about her cause of death. However, her longtime rep, Mara Buxbaum, released the following statement to Bustle:

"Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile."

According to the Connecticut Post, Moore's funeral took place Sunday, Jan. 29 at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, Connecticut with 50 friends and family members in attendance. The service was private and the cemetery was closed to the public, but was then opened to the public again Sunday afternoon. Based on the Connecticut Post's report and photos shared by the outlet, Moore's gravesite includes a five-foot angel statue and was filled with beautiful flowers.
