Ah, Rihanna. Has there ever been a more exciting, dynamic, gorgeous celebrity to grace the red carpet? I think not. Look no further than Rihanna's 2017 Met Ball look to know that she is queen of serving red carpet greatness. Rihanna at the 2017 BET Awards red carpet didn't happen this year, and it's a little disappointing given, well, how amazing Rihanna is on every red carpet pretty much ever. Right on the heels of her release of "Wild Thoughts," a collaboration with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller, Rihanna skipped the 2017 BET Awards despite her nomination for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist — an extremely well-deserved nod, of course.

So what's Rihanna doing instead? Well, it's hard to say exactly, but whatever it is, she's still making time to tweet about important causes and post the occasional throwback selfie. As one of the biggest stars in the entire world, it makes sense that RiRi can't make every single awards show. I mean, a girl can dream that's the case, of course — but I know that Rihanna probably has an important reasons for missing this year's festivities. There's always next year, right? And in the meantime, we can always appreciate the selfies RiRi is gracing us with on Instagram.

Selfie queen doesn't even begin to explain it.

Let's appreciate this Rihanna look from the 2008 BET Awards, shall we? 2008, people! That's almost 10 years ago. Makes you nostalgic, doesn't it?

Perhaps next year we'll be graced with Rihanna's presence at the BETs.
