Sephora's 2018 Birthday Sets Are Actually Incredible & Beauty Insiders Are Hyped

Call me greedy, but samples never really make my heart somersault. They usually feel like an after-thought giveaway, where a company pours a couple of drops of perfume or setting spray into a Barbie-sized bottle and gives it to you as an act of goodwill. But not all samples are created equal, and sometimes a store surprises you with a gift that won't make you want to trow it into the junk drawer version of your beauty bag. Enter Sephora's Beauty Insider birthday sets, and the fact that the beauty store really stepped it up for 2018.

One of the perks of getting one year older is all the love you get showered with on that day. And Sephora really wants you to feel all the confetti-and-sparkler vibes on your birthday. If you're a Beauty Insider, you're able to pick up a set without any purchase at the store during the month of your birthday, or with a purchase online. But not wanting to limit you to just one batch of products (on size does not fit all, after all), you can choose between three different sets: one that is makeup focused, one is hair themed, and one that is skin care oriented. Depending on which category appeals the most to you, you can have your pick. To make an informed decision, checkout the breakdown below.

GlamGlow Gift Kit

GlamGlow Gift Kit, $25, Sephora

In this gift package, you get two GlamGlow specific skincare items. The first is the Mega Illuminating Moisturizer, which highlights and hydrates your skin at the same time. It's supposed to help you smooth and even out your skin tone, and boost the look of dull skin. It comes in three different shades so you can coordinate it with your skin tone: Pearl Glow (a white cream,) Nude Glow (a light pink hue,) and Sun Glow (a pink and brown mix.)

The second product is the GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment Masque, which is a catch-all mask meant to tackle your most common skincare concerns, like oiliness, acne, redness, and in-grown hairs. The mud formula is supposed to support your skin's natural oil balance (rather than drying out your skin too much,) and it has six different acids in it to clean out your pores and even out your complexion.

Bite Beauty Kit

Matte Crème Lip Crayon Mini, $14, Sephora | Amuse Bouche Lipstick, $26, Sephora | Agave Lip Balm, $18, Sephora

If you're always looking to expand your lipstick collection, then the Bite Beauty kit might be more up your alley. Featuring a mini matte lipstick pencil, a bullet lipstick, and two lip balm samples, you can get a small haul for your birthday.

The first product would be the Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon, which is a long-lasting matte color. Then there's the Amuse Bouche Lipstick, which is a high-impact lipstick with a creamy and soft finish. The last product is the Agave Lip Balm, which repairs and restores hydration back to your lips. The formula is made from an interesting blend of agave and rare Madagascar vanilla CO2 extract, and it can also be used as a primer before your lipstick.

Bumble And Bumble Kit

Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Shampoo, $31, Sephora | Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Conditioner, $34, Sephora

The final gift option is a Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner set, bringing you some hair luxury to your beauty routine. For this set you can only order it online (whereas the other two you can also pick them up at a store location,) but that's just a small blimp in your plans. You get one Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Shampoo sample bottle, which is infused with six light, non-greasy oils that will transform dry, frizzy hair to soft and silky tresses. The second bottle is the Hairdressser's Invisible Oil Conditioner, which has the same ingredients. Both are safe for color-treated hair and are OK for chemically-altered tresses as well.

So there you have it. Now all you have to do is weigh your options, and your birthday will be all the more special in 2018.
