It's hard to believe it's been over 10 years since The O.C. first graced television, plunging viewers into the affluent, oceanside town of Newport, California. The Fox series only ran for four seasons, but its characters did a lot of growing in those few years, and looking at The O.C. cast in the first and last episodes show quite the transformation—in terms of both appearance and personality.

During its heyday, The O.C. was a pop culture tour de force, quickly accruing a rabid and devoted fan base. It had all the makings of a classic teen soap: star-crossed romance, steamy melodrama, and plenty of money and secrets to drive it. The premise centered around rebel outsider Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie), a street kid who crash lands in Newport when Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher) shows up to bail him out of jail and ends up taking him in. His arrival throws their high-class community into disarray, pushing him and Sandy’s geeky but charming son, Seth (Adam Brody), into the arms of Harbor School Queen Bees Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) and Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson).

With just shy of 100 episodes (92, to be exact), it was a strange, eventful journey for the residents of Newport, but most of them emerged stronger, more capable people. Click through to look back at how far they've come.
