The Feel-Good Smoothie Bowl Recipe You Need This Summer

by Erin Kelly

Pool parties. Backyard barbecues. Outdoor concerts. Weekend getaways. Picnics in the park.

From basking in the sunshine to playing lawn games with your friends at a fun-filled picnic in the park, summer is all about feel-good activities. Yet Lee Tilghman, the recipe developer, writer, and photographer behind the popular @LeeFromAmerica social handle, knows that feel-good experiences aren’t limited to outdoor activities and laid back excursions. As a recipe developer, Tilghman excels at pairing cuisines, tastes, and flavors with warm weather activities that complement the season. After all, you need something nourishing to fuel your fun!

To ensure that your summer is full of both feel-good experiences and invigorating refreshments, we partnered with Starbucks to share an exclusive smoothie bowl recipe straight from Tilghman’s balanced living cookbook. Much like Starbucks new Teavana® Shaken Iced Tea Infusions, Tilghman’s Blueberry Cauliflower Smoothie Bowl is free of artificial flavors and sweeteners, and handcrafted to perfection.

See below for more about Tilghman’s concoction, and how you can recreate it for yourself to fuel the feel-good summer of your dreams.

Behind The Ingredients

When it comes to formulating recipes, Tilghman’s first priority is that the finished product is nutritious and good for you. Her second priority is that it tastes good. And if she’s planning to document it on her social feed, she’ll make sure it looks good, too.

“If I wouldn’t eat it, then it doesn’t go on my feed,” Tilghman says. “I’m super careful about what I put into my body — I have really high standards.”

So, in addition to meeting her high standards, Tilghman assures us this Blueberry Cauliflower Smoothie Bowl recipe isn't your average smoothie bowl.

Made with a frozen cauliflower base, this bowl has no added sugar and takes just 15 to 20 minutes to perfect. Tilghman was inspired to play around with unique smoothie bases when she was diagnosed with PCOS and had to change her diet.

“I know how good it is for me, so this recipe is an act of self-care and self love, a really important part of a healthy lifestyle,” she explains.
