These Designers Teamed Up With 'On The Basis Of Sex' To Support The ACLU & We’re So Here For It
Can you ever really have enough RBG-themed merchandise? According to us, the answer is a firm "no." Now, there's another way for you to show your fandom for the prolific justice. Seven fashion, beauty, and accessories labels have teamed up with Focus Features' On The Basis of Sex and the ACLU to launch "All Rise," a capsule of items inspired by the Supreme Court justice's indelible career. And these goodies aren't just super cool — they support a great cause!
Diane Von Furstenberg, Clare V., Clé de Peau Beauté, Lingua Franca, Soludos, Catbird, and Dissent Pins are all a part of this legally uplifting collection. It includes everything from jumpsuits to bright red lipstick, all paying homage to Ginsburg's groundbreaking legacy. Ginsburg co-founded the Women's Rights Project within the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), and a portion of each sale will support this coalition. Our verdict? We are so here for it.
With Felicity Jones leading a stacked ensemble cast as a young Ruth Bader Ginsburg, On The Basis of Sex (now in theaters) tells the true story of the young lawyer as she teams up with her husband Marty (played by Armie Hammer) to bring a landmark gender equality case before the U.S. Court of Appeals. After all, before she was standing up for what's right in the highest court of the land, she was a lawyer just starting out.
We see Ginsburg passionately go to bat against gender discrimination, which impacts her both personally and politically. She walks through the fires of sexism and public scrutiny and emerges a modern American heroine. Directed by powerhouse Mimi Leder, the story is an emotionally resonant showcase of one woman's unflinching commitment to equality.
To commemorate Ginsburg's legendary judicial career, the film premiered on the feminist icon's 25th anniversary in court. And with the "All Rise" collection, you'll know exactly what to wear to the movie when you inevitably see it three times in theaters.
Von Furstenberg contributed a version of her wrap dress, along with a number of other '70s-inspired designs. "We are happy to reissue this geometric print to celebrate the premiere of On the Basis of Sex and Felicity Jones’ portrayal of the incomparable Ruth Bader Ginsburg," said the designer. Also, this dress is everything.
Clare V. lent her playful aesthetic to the project with a bandana, a clutch, and a sweatshirt all carrying her playful and progressive French spin. Don't mind me... I'm just over here casually popping this "Égalité" sweatshirt into my cart.
Soludos contributed this fetching sneaker, also leveraging Ginsburg's reputation as a guardian of equality. I feel like when you slip these babies on, every step you take is a step towards justice.
