These Sailor Moon Lipsticks Are Nostalgic Perfection

by Alexa Tucker

From Lisa Frank makeup brushes to Disney classic-inspired palettes, '90s-inspired beauty products are having a major moment. And the latest to join the party is definitely worth getting excited about. Japanese beauty company Creer Beaute just announced a line of Sailor Moon lipsticks that deliver a punch of color, moisture, and major nostalgia. Basically, they're everything you need to be fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight, etc. etc. (How long until the theme song references get old here?)

Called the Moisture Rouge line, the five lipsticks are packaged in fabulously kitsch-y "disguise" pens. And the whole gang's got a color, ranging from pink to red: Sailor Venus, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and of course, the one named Sailor Moon. Sadly, no Luna lipstick for our favorite anime kitty, but we'll take what we can get.

Judging by a rough website translation, the lipsticks are not only cute, but also ultra-hydrating. Their ingredients include macadamia seed oil, sunflower seed oil, and the latest moisturizing superstar ingredient, hyaluronic acid.

If it all sounds too good to be true, that may be because unfortunately, it kind of is (at least, for those of us in North America). The catch is that it's unclear whether they ship to the U.S., and even if they do, we'll have to wait until June 2017. However, some of the brands' products have popped up on a site called Yes Style in the past (including a Sailor Moon liner, makeup brush, and powder palette), so it might be worth keeping your eye on that. According to PopSugar, they should cost about $28 each (although you never really know with resale).

Till then, let's hope a U.S. beauty brand taps into the Sailor Moon market (and watch every available episode on Hulu while we wait).

Here's a look at each lipstick in the line:

Sailor Moon

The title character/crime fighter's shade is a pretty sheer pink.

Sailor Jupiter & Sailor Venus

Both peach-y hues, Sailor Jupiter's color leans more on the pink side, while Sailor Venus skews more orange.

Sailor Mercury & Sailor Mars

Sailor Mercury's shade is light pink (but wouldn't it be great if it was blue like the tube?). Finally, Sailor Mars gets a more pigmented red color.
