At the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando on Friday evening, Star Wars alum Mark Hamill remembered Carrie Fisher with a quote that could only, and will only, ever perfectly fit Fisher. As Hamill sat onstage by himself and looked out over the crowd, he told fans about his first meeting with Fisher, what it was like filming every Star Wars installment of the original trilogy, and best of all, why he loved her so much. As a friend, a co-star, and a fierce woman, Hamill appeared in awe of Fisher as he remembered her fondly.

The quote that stood out most was when Hamill told the audience how he now remembers the late legend. The image he paints of Fisher is vivid and fitting:

"When I think of her, she’s looking down from the celestial stratosphere with those big brown eyes, that sly smile on her face, as she lovingly extends me the middle finger."

Hamill shares an image of Fisher that is so apt, as he lovingly remembered her mix of crudeness, humor, and intelligence. And he kindly passed that image along to us. I mean, how else can we pay tribute to our favorite space princess without the proper image to remember her by?

Hamill also stated at the memorial event that Fisher wouldn't want us to be consumed with grief for her. "She would want us to be having fun and laughing," he explained. "That's what she was all about, so my intent is to honor her and acknowledge her extraordinary contribution to our lives and not let us be consumed with grief."

Through his own pitch-perfect anecdotes of his long friendship with Fisher, and the second showing of the tribute video that was put together for the Star Wars Celebration, Hamill gave fans some excellent memories to meditate on. As we remember Fisher now, we should all take comfort that we got to even experience her greatness in film.
