Salma is a multi-award winning freelance writer and journalist based in London. She’s won a number of awards for her journalism, including ‘Young Journalist of the Year’ at the GG2 Leadership Awards in 2017 and ‘Best Feature’ at the End Violence Against Women Media Awards in 2016. Her work focuses on marginalised communities, contemporary faith, issues affecting women, British identity and more for the likes of Bustle, VICE, i-D, DAZED, HUNGER, ELLE, GQ, i-D, gal-dem, Grazia, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Refinery29UK. Salma’s also a Contributing Author of several Non-Fiction books, including the Amazon #1 best-selling anthology 'It's Not About the Burqa.'
